The best spring/summer in Sioux Lookout is about to begin! I check your webcam from time to time as I have friends in Sioux Lookout that I communicate with all the time (and visit with). Since I live near Lac du Bonnet, about 100 km NE of Winnipeg (Manitoba), we suffer through much of the same winters BUT also enjoy the same great summers! Thanks for hosting the webcam which allows me a look at the lake you share with my friends.

My favourite time of year for your webcam....The next 9 days will feel like I'm right there beside you. Should get some cushions on those chairs for Saturday, sun tan time.

The barrel is still in place, Garry. (Sunday, May 11, 7:15 a.m.). In certain sunlight conditions the yellow barrel doesn't show up well on the cam. Give it another look. It's still on top.

The barrel went through at 3:48 this afternoon. I had gotten home from camp barely an hour earlier and was sitting on my deck drinking a glass of wine, so had a nice view.
Official ice-out, when the very last hint of ice disappears, should follow in a few days. The latest recorded ice out on Pelican Lake was May 23, 1966.

Dick, I look at the webcam almost daily and enjoyed seeing all the snow, but have been watching for ice out. This summer will be my 30th trip up to Sioux Lookout, fishing/camping. We are looking forward to it. We usually fish Lac Seul and Vermilion, but have fished Pelican, mainly for those big smallmouth, and have also caught some nice snakes (pike) off your point, while relatives of mine down here in Arkansas were watching on your webcam. Look forward to seeing NW Ontario next month. Take care

That's great, Chris. If you talk to your relatives on the cell phone while fishing out front here it'll be like your own live television show. Hope the start to your third decade of Northwestern Ontario fishing is memorable. Have a good trip.
