Official ice-out on Pelican was May 1. Minnitaki is usually 2 or 3 days later. When I checked water temperature a couple days ago it was 44 F.

Hi Jamey. Yeah, we think all that snow is pretty funny. We'll probably be laughing harder by this time next week.
Where are you on Minnitaki?
Good wishes.

Hi John, Knobby's won't be ready for you, for sure. The owner of Dick & Nellie's posts progress pictures on Facebook every once in awhile. Progress is happening, but no date for reopening has been announced. You'll still have a few choices when you get here. Good wishes. Dick

Water levels right now are a bit low, but not too bad. We'll definitely need some good rain as summer comes on. Dick

Hi Leo, Some current to contend with, but lots of people travel through the Chutes with pontoon boats. I drive a 35 foot pontoon with 90 HP Merc through regularly. Good wishes. Dick

Dick and Nellie's should be open within the next few weeks. Work has been ongoing there all winter.
Numerous speculations have made the rounds regarding Knobby's. I haven't heard anything reliable. There is no sign, at this time, of rebuilding going on at the site. Late last summer the owners parked a mobile van there to sell take-out food. It hasn't been there for the winter.
Hard to believe Knobby's won't be rebuilt in some fashion, but there's been no announcement.

Hi Chris,
Nice to hear from you. Sorry you'll miss your trip this summer. Hopefully you can come twice next year to make up for it.
Glad you're enjoying the web cam. Watch for a very early ice out this year.
Good wishes!

Official freeze-up was December 19 - a new record for here.
We had a most unusual fall, Tom, including lots of rain in late November. When I went away for three weeks my boat was pulled up high and dry for the winter. When I got home the water was up and the Minnitaki Queen was afloat again.
Merry Christmas.

Good question, Jack. I think the latest date recorded for freeze-up on Pelican here is December 15. Based on the current weather and the forecast for the next week we might just be in the running to break that record. This is new territory for me, though, so I can't even make a good guess right now.
